About Pamela
Pamela Kaufman, founder of Allay Yoga, is a Vinyasa Yoga teacher by day and dissertation-writing graduate student by night. As a burgeoning sociologist, she is interested in the ideologies and processes men and women rely on to make decisions about career and family. As a Yoga Instructor, Pamela hopes to help alleviate some of the stresses associated with making these decisions, while simultaneously helping individuals develop mindful strategies to best address them.
She began her yoga journey in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she studied Social Anthropology and practiced Hatha Yoga by video in her tiny dorm room. As a graduate student living in New York City, she fell in love with yoga through her practice at a number of inspiring East Village studios. Since that time, in both New York and Washington, D.C. she is thankful to have found community, spirituality, balance and grounding through her yoga practice. She is especially grateful for the supportive community at Tranquil Space for helping her truly find her inner yogini!
Pamela's goal as a teacher is to provide a safe and supportive environment for students to explore their own mind-body connection. Her teaching style is gentle, but her sequences are intense and designed to bring students to their edge. She hopes finding this balance between gentleness and threshold on the mat can be helpful in finding this balance at home and at work. She incorporates a variety of music types, including but not limited to rock, pop, jazz, classical, and traditional chanting.
